Okay, so the weather here in Belgium is giving me serious depression.  I mean, everyday is the same forecast…10° and 12°C, rain, clouds, wind…It’s pretty much living in misery.
Sunday, we went to our friend’s house to go to the outdoor market and for lunch.  During our afternoon we incurred wind, rain, hail, sun, and nearly a hurricane.  You can’t just leave your house.  You’ve got to prepare for war…umbrella, raincoat, fleece, sunglasses, scarf, gloves, and helmet (for the hail).  It’s ridiculous, and I’m tired of it.  I can’t send my kids outside without loading them up with gear.  All they want to do is run outside and play, and here I am chasing after them with coats and hats at the end of April.
I’m desperate for the weather to change.  My winter wardrobe is tired and needs to hibernate.  I’ve got new sandals and summery clothes that are just itching to breakout.  I couldn’t resist anymore, and I wore my new fluorescent pink jeans yesterday.  Needless to say, I looked cute…but my ankles were cold since they are ankle length jeans, so I had to change into boots.  The weather is taking all the fun out of my fashion adventures.
My kids are desperate for summer too.  They are constantly pretending that they are going to the beach…Complete with bikinis, towels and flip flops.  As much as this is cute, it’s a cry for help!  I keep telling them that we’ll go to the beach this summer, but my words mean nothing…they require immediate action.
Today it hit 12.5°C…Both girls were “sweating” and had to remove their coats.  Of course they had a short sleeve shirt and tank top on.  They looked like lunatics on the playground!  I think the other parents thought I was the lunatic since I was letting it happen.  Oh well, wouldn’t be the first time someone looked at me like I was crazy.
Yesterday my daughter’s teacher told me that if you sing the song, “Oh, Mr. Sun” when it’s rainy and cloudy out, that the clouds will part and the sun will come out…I’m willing to try anything.  Below are the lyrics…it can’t hurt!

Oh, Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun,

Please shine down on me.

Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun,

Hiding behind a tree.

These little children are asking you

To please come out so we can play with you.

Oh, Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun,

Please shine down on me.
Here’s hoping some of you are enjoying spring…And, if you are…can you please stop hogging it?
UPDATES:
#1:  As you know, I was pick pocketed a few weeks back.  A day later, the H&M store called me to let me know that they found my wallet.  All of my documents were in the wallet, but the money was gone.  I was very glad to have gotten my wallet back since it was given to me by my mom almost 15 years ago…It’s an old school Coach wallet, and I really do love it.  I had already cancelled all of my cards and renewed my license and identity card (which to my surprise was a very smooth process…I might even go as far to say that it was easier than in the US).
#2:  As part of my Rebirth process for spring, I have joined a running class.  I hate it.  Every damn single step.  I’m not hoping to love running, but I am hoping to appreciate it.  I’ll keep you posted.  I’ve only been twice, so I’m hoping it will get better.  Today I ran a timed 5k.  I am too embarrassed to tell my time, but I will say I was last to finish.  Pretty sweet for the ego.

  1. I don't care for the rain either. Hope it warms up soon for you. We are having some very strange weather here in FL if it makes you feel any better. Had a very hot winter and last night it was in the 30's and today was only 73. I know it sounds great and it was, but still very abnormal for FL. Hope you guys are doing well.
