Dear Men…I know you can stand to pee, but I don’t need to see it.
So, I’m totally annoyed with a filthy habit that men in Brussels seem to think is normal. Urinating in public is not acceptable. Actually, I think it’s an epidemic across Europe…as I know train stations in London and Paris usually smell and look as though men have forgotten what bathrooms look like, or maybe they were born in the forest like Mogli in The Jungle Book.
The other day I was driving down Avenue de Tervuren (a busy thoroughfare in Brussels), and a middle-aged man was standing next to a tree with his business hanging out for the world to see…like it was no big deal. It wasn’t as if he was in an alley or standing against a building to try and be a bit discreet…he was in the middle of the street! I mean, I wanted to pull over and give him a piece of my mind. This is not the first instance I have seen this…There have now been countless times when I have seen men standing on the side of the road (not back roads…main roads). A couple of nights ago, my friends and I were in Grand Place, and a dude decided that peeing behind a dumpster (which was next to a restaurant) was the ideal place to relieve himself. I mean seriously? This is not normal, and is totally rude.
I mean, yes, we’ve all had emergencies…but seriously, you have to stop at a major intersection and relieve yourself? Find a bathroom. I’m not talking about little kids who can’t hold it. And, you don’t see women squatting on the side of the road, do you? I’m talking about grown men. You’d think their mother’s would have taught them better.
Okay, I’m done ranting…but seriously…grow up.
